Mt. Vernon and Enola School District consolidated in 1991 to form Mt. Vernon-Enola School District. The school district is composed of the communities of Mt. Vernon, Enola, and Naylor. Livestock farming is a major economic activity in the area. The school is the district’s largest employer and the center of community activities. The consolidation has led to a broader curriculum and more extracurricular activities for students. The improvement in inter-community relations has been a major factor in the success of the school and its students. Each year brings changes that enhance the quality of the community and the school’s education.

Mount Vernon-Enola School District is composed of two campuses: Mount Vernon-Enola High School in Mount Vernon and Mount Vernon-Enola Elementary School in Enola. Both campuses are equipped with safe rooms that are available to the public. Over the past five years, the district has seen an increase in enrollment as more families move from urban to rural areas. The district offers a comprehensive K-12 character education program and consistently earns excellent ratings on the State Report Card.

Mount Vernon-Enola Elementary School serves Pre-K through elementary grades. The Pre-K program recently underwent remodeling, with updates to both the building and curriculum. The elementary campus also includes a cafeteria, a gymnasium, and a safe room for public use.

Mount Vernon-Enola High School provides students with a wide range of educational opportunities. The campus features three classroom buildings, an agriculture building, a family and consumer science building, a cafetorium, a gymnasium, and administrative offices. The high school’s business department is equipped with two computer labs, one for advanced courses and another for intermediate classes. Students have access to advanced technology and a diverse curriculum, contributing to the school’s excellent ratings on the State Report Card. The high school also has a safe room available to the public.
