Blood Institute was on campus yesterday sharing how donating blood benefits those within our community. MVE will be hosting a blood drive on May 3 in the high school gym from 9:30-1:30. Students ages 16 and older may donate. If you are 16 you must have a completed parent permission along with an ID to give. Students can earn 4 hours of community service by donating.

The 2024 FCCLA State STAR Events occurred in Hot Springs on April 10-11, 2024. Dessie McCarty participated in Level 3 Nutrition & Wellness and earned a bronze medal. Olivia McClelland, Kennedy Peterson, Abby Ralston, and Abigail Wagler participated in Level 3 Parliamentary Procedure and earned a silver medal. The parliamentary procedure team has been invited to attend the FCCLA National STAR Events competition that will be held in Seattle, Washington, in June

These students recently attended the Business and Industry showcase at the ASUB Searcy campus. While there, they learned about the technical programs offered at that campus, saw the shops and equipment, and even got to sit in a Blackhawk helicopter!

Students and teachers enjoyed a fun afternoon of volleyball after completing our ATLAS Writing assessment. We are so proud of the students and the effort they gave during this test. We will complete the remainder of our ATLAS testing in May.

EAST Convention 2024 is underway. MVE students have learned and collaborated with other EAST programs across the state in Hot Springs.

English classes are working hard to prepare for the ATLAS writing exam next week. They are reviewing Writing on Command techniques they have learned this year. These students used a zeugma in their writing. Zeugma is a figure of speech in which a word applies to two others in different senses or to two others of which it semantically suits only one.

Senior Girls punched their ticket to the 2A State Finals after an intense win against Riverside. They will play this Saturday at 6:00 at the Bank OZK Arena in Hot Springs.

Seniors participated in mock interviews as part of the College and Career Readiness Class. We require all seniors to take this course during the senior year. They receive feedback from the interview for use in future interviews.

Families met with financial aid officers last night getting assistance in completing the 24-25 FAFSA. This is required for students to receive any type of government financial assistance.
