Learning is in full swing across our high school classrooms! 💙
Our art students spent the week exploring the techniques of Bob Ross, learning about blending, brush control, and landscape composition. They wrapped up the week by following along with an episode of The Joy of Painting to create their own masterpieces—and the results were incredible!
In Mrs. Crawford’s Survey of Business class, students took on a hands-on project focused on real-world skills. They began by discussing the wants and needs of city workers and then designed their own businesses to meet those needs. Along the way, they learned about different types of businesses, what makes a city attractive, and the importance of presentation. Students created inspiration and vision boards before building their physical businesses, carefully considering location and profitability. They also explored marketing strategies and are finishing the year by learning about laws, such as OSHA, that impact businesses.
Mrs. Amy’s 8th grade students have also been busy with hands-on learning, building solar robots and catapults. These projects help students develop important life skills such as problem-solving, teamwork, critical thinking, and perseverance—skills that will serve them well beyond the classroom.
Thanks to a generous donation from New Life Church of Conway, our “Shoe Earned It” incentive kicked off in April! Students have the opportunity to earn tickets through grades, attendance, monthly rewards, and good deeds. Each week, tickets are drawn and students can win a new pair of shoes. So far, 32 students have earned a brand new pair of Nikes!
We love seeing our students engaged, learning, and being recognized for their hard work!

Trap shooting teaches our students focus, discipline, responsibility, and how to handle both success and setbacks with confidence. These are lessons that carry far beyond the range.
Our shooters have been putting in the work, and it shows. From personal bests to perfect rounds, we are proud of the dedication and perseverance displayed each time they step on the line. A special shoutout to Ben Thomason on his first perfect 25—an accomplishment that reflects his hard work and determination.

This week’s spotlight is Ms. Lawaynea Barker.
Ms. Barker believes school pride is about showing up each day with a positive attitude and doing your part to create a great environment for students and staff. She works to make sure students feel loved, safe, and important, and takes pride in helping them grow and build confidence.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and making lasting memories. After a long day, you’ll likely find her enjoying her favorite comfort meal—chicken fajitas with Mexican rice and cheese dip. And if she could travel anywhere, Disney World would be at the top of her list.
We appreciate the care, positivity, and dedication Ms. Barker brings to our school each day.
