It’s Teacher Tuesday, and today we’re featuring Mr. Mark Clemmons — the man behind the music at MVE! 🎶

Mr. Clemmons teaches music, and he’s inspired every day by watching students succeed not just in school, but in life. If he weren’t a teacher, you might find him playing music professionally, working in math, or maybe even politics!

Before college, Mr. Clemmons was a radio DJ — and he still carries that passion for music with him. He dreams of mastering the piano so he can play hymns and classical favorites like Debussy and Satie, and accompany his students in class. 🎹

His go-to comfort food is fried chicken (ask any of his students — they’ll confirm it). When it’s time to relax, you’ll likely find him spending time with family or visiting dream destinations like D.C., Paris, or Rome to explore museums all day long. 🏛️

A few things that always lift his spirits? The song "Ventura Highway," the Lord of the Rings movies, and the Belgariad book series by David Eddings.

He loves the Cha Cha Slide tradition in his classroom, and says the best advice he gives (and lives by) is: Giving is so much better than receiving. 💙

We’re lucky to have Mr. Clemmons as part of the Warhawk Family — making a big impact with a joyful heart and a whole lot of rhythm!

What an amazing week at Mt. Vernon-Enola! 💙

We kicked things off by welcoming back our incredible staff and students. While students soaked up the last days of summer, our teachers were busy preparing for their arrival.

A huge thank you to our community partners — Enola Church of Christ, Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, and Luck Cleaning Service — for keeping our staff fed, and to Service Plus Telecommunications for providing our staff shirts. Your support makes a huge impact on our district.

Open House was a big success across both campuses, and this year ALL students receive free breakfast and lunch. On the very first day of school, our food service team served 280 breakfast trays and 485 lunch trays! 🍽️ Our cafeteria crew is working harder than ever to keep every Warhawk fueled and ready to learn.

We’re looking forward to a fantastic year ahead. Check out some of the highlights from this week on our YouTube channel: https://youtube.com/shorts/5rk3mrVWnB4?feature=share

🚌 On Thursday, August 7, our buses will roll out for the first day of school. That means kids will be waiting at stops, crossing roads, and climbing aboard every morning and afternoon.

Take a minute to go over bus safety rules with your Warhawk, and drivers — this part will be for you too.

Slow down in school zones. Stop when the stop arm is out. Never pass a stopped bus. Be alert for kids who may cross unexpectedly.

Whether you're behind the wheel or waiting at the stop, we’ll all play a part in getting our Warhawks to school safely.

It’s Teacher Tuesday, and today we’re excited to have Jamie Carmen-Reagan! 💙📘

She’ll be teaching AP Biology, 10th grade Biology, Anatomy and Physiology, and Environmental Science — and she’s passionate about helping students fall in love with learning.

Mrs. CR finds joy in wide open spaces or the beach, where she feels the energy and life of the ocean. She’d love to master surfing someday, and her go-to comfort food after a long day? Mexican food, of course! 🌊🌮

Students might be surprised to learn she’s certified to teach horseback riding lessons to individuals with and without disabilities — a passion she enjoyed for many years. 🐎

Her favorite classroom tradition is wildlife forensics, and her best advice to students is simple but powerful: Be kind.

We’re so glad to have her as part of the small, close-knit Warhawk family!

🍎 Teacher Tuesday: Special Edition

Today we’re celebrating one of our own — Damara Moore is now a published author!

We are so proud of Mrs. Moore for her deep dedication to her students, her faith, and our district. Her tenacity as a teacher and advocate is unmatched... and now she can officially add author to her resume.

In her own words:
"I did a thing. A big, bold, Jesus-loving, sass-filled THING. I wrote a book. And not just any book—Scrip & Sass: 90 Days of Real Faith for Real Life. It’s for the days when your coffee’s cold, your patience is gone, and your prayers start with, 'Lord, help me not lose it today...'"

If you’ve ever:
✅ Talked to Jesus with a little side-eye
✅ Needed Scripture and sarcasm in the same sentence
✅ Wanted to slap a sticky note on life that says "Try Jesus, not me"
Then this book is for you.

📚 Grab your copy here:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FK474WM8

Congratulations, Mrs. Moore. Your Warhawk family is cheering you on every step of the way.

📱 Bell to Bell No Cell

To help our students stay focused and follow state law, MVE is enforcing the Bell to Bell No Cell policy. From 7:49 am to 3:16 pm, students may not use or visibly carry phones, earbuds, smartwatches, or any personal electronic devices during the school day.

This includes use in classrooms, hallways, restrooms, the cafeteria, the library, and on school buses unless the bus driver allows it for learning purposes.

Devices must stay out of sight and not in use during these hours.

The only exceptions are:

When a teacher or bus driver allows use for instruction

When a student has a 504 Plan or IEP that requires a device

In an emergency

Students may use their devices before 7:49 am outside the building and after 3:16 pm.

Thank you for helping us create a safe and focused learning environment for all students.
