Fueling Brains in action 💙🤍
In our Left Brain classrooms, students build specific skills independently. In our Right Brain classrooms, they apply those skills creatively in groups. Movement is woven throughout because physical development supports cognitive growth.
This innovative approach reflects our commitment to innovation and achievement at every level.

It’s Team Member Tuesday, and we’re excited to recognize another outstanding member of our team who supports our students and staff each day.
This week’s spotlight is Ms. Lawaynea Barker.
Ms. Barker believes school pride is about showing up each day with a positive attitude and doing your part to create a great environment for students and staff. She works to make sure students feel loved, safe, and important, and takes pride in helping them grow and build confidence.
Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with her family and making lasting memories. After a long day, you’ll likely find her enjoying her favorite comfort meal—chicken fajitas with Mexican rice and cheese dip. And if she could travel anywhere, Disney World would be at the top of her list.
We appreciate the care, positivity, and dedication Ms. Barker brings to our school each day.

Why executive function skills matter 💙🤍
Executive function skills develop rapidly between ages 3–5. These skills help children regulate emotions, follow directions, and take ownership of learning.
Through the Fueling Brains curriculum, MVE PreK strengthens these critical abilities early — setting students up for long-term achievement.
Please take a moment to complete our Family and Community Survey.
Your feedback will help guide our district’s decisions and support future grant opportunities. At Mt. Vernon-Enola, we are committed to integrity, innovation, achievement, and family, and your input plays an important role in that work.
Your perspective as a family and community member is invaluable, and we appreciate your time and responses.
Mt. Vernon-Enola School District is currently seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join our team in the following positions:
