Stop for flashing red lights
All drivers must stop at least 30 feet away from a school bus that is loading or unloading children with red lights flashing and the stop arm extended. This applies to traffic approaching from both directions on undivided roads.
Stay stopped until the bus turns off its red lights and moves again.
Divided highway exception
If there’s a median or barrier at least 20 feet wide, only the traffic behind the bus must stop.
A center turn lane does not count as a true median — in that case, traffic in both directions must still stop.
Penalties for illegal passing
Fines usually begin around $250 and can go up to $1,000.
Violators might face up to 90 days in jail, community service, or both.
Passing a stopped bus with reckless disregard can be charged as a Class A misdemeanor.
Bus loading & unloading rules
Buses must load and unload on the right side of the road or curb.
Drivers should ensure all students are seated before moving.
Passengers must remain seated while the bus is in motion.
📆 October Reminders for Drivers
Be extra alert in early mornings and late afternoons — changing daylight and fog can reduce visibility.
Watch closely for students near roadways — some may step into the street unexpectedly.
Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods with frequent bus stops.
Avoid any distractions (phones, music, etc.) while driving near buses or schools.
Let’s all do our part — slow down, stop for flashing red lights, and protect our students’ safety. The Warhawk community depends on every driver doing the right thing.

Thinking about a school where your child can truly thrive? At Mt. Vernon-Enola, we’re all about giving students room to grow. With small class sizes, teachers who know their students well, and a community that shows up every step of the way, kids don’t get lost in the crowd — they stand out.
Life at MVE is more than books and tests. From athletics and clubs to hands-on projects and our afterschool program, students explore, discover, and build skills that last far beyond graduation. Plus, with free breakfast and lunch for every Warhawk, we make sure no student starts the day hungry.
Our core values — Integrity, Innovation, Achievement, and Family — guide everything we do. They’re not words on a wall; they’re the heart of how we teach, learn, and support one another.
School choice applications are open now through June 1, 2026. If you’re ready for a place where learning feels personal and students soar higher, we’d love to welcome you to the Warhawk Family.

What a night, Warhawk Nation! 🏀💙
Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Blue/Silver game last night. A great time was had by all! The support this community shows to our district and our students is amazing and always appreciated.
Special thanks to the Junior Class for hosting this awesome event, to all the players and Coaches for working hard to represent our school, and to the MVE FFA for the amazing new signage for the front of the gym!

⛈️ Severe Weather Protocol Reminder 🌪️
The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. In the event of a tornado warning during school hours, both our Elementary and High School campuses have designated storm shelters to keep everyone safe.
Our schools regularly conduct severe weather drills to ensure students and staff are prepared to respond quickly and calmly. These drills help us stay ready and confident should severe weather occur.
Please remember:
• High School Campus: Access through the north parking lot inside the fence. Enter through the north door at the ramp.
• Elementary Campus: Park on the east side of the playground. The gate will be open—enter through the brown door.
During school hours, safe rooms are closed to the public to protect students and staff.
After hours, in the event of an active tornado warning, the safe rooms will be open to the public.
Space inside the shelters is limited. Please bring only essential items, and remember there is a strict no pets rule. We ask that everyone be respectful and considerate of those around them during severe weather events.
We appreciate your trust and support as we work to keep our Warhawk Family safe. Stay weather-aware, and thank you for helping us prioritize safety across our district. 💙

Just a friendly reminder — this is not a new policy, but a continuation of our Bell to Bell No Cell expectations.
To help students stay focused and in compliance with state law, MVE continues to enforce the Bell to Bell No Cell policy. From 7:49 am to 3:16 pm, students may not use or visibly carry phones, earbuds, smartwatches, or any personal electronic devices during the school day.
This includes classrooms, hallways, restrooms, the cafeteria, the library, and on school buses (unless the driver allows use for learning purposes).
Devices should stay out of sight and not in use during these hours.
The only exceptions are:
• When a teacher or bus driver allows use for instruction
• When required by a student’s 504 Plan or IEP
• In an emergency
Students may use devices before 7:49 am outside the building and after 3:16 pm.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our learning environment safe, focused, and free of distractions.

On a rough day, you might find Ms. Becca listening to "Good Day" by Forrest Frank – what a perfect choice! Her biggest inspiration in teaching is creating a safe, caring place where kids can learn, make mistakes, and truly be themselves. How amazing is that? ❤️
If she weren't inspiring students, she'd be designing beautiful spaces as an interior designer! And if you ever need advice, Ms. Becca reminds us to always give our best, remember mistakes are part of learning, and that we're here to grow together, not be perfect. Wise words! ✨
Oh, and a fun fact: she dreams of visiting Hawaii to see the beaches AND Pearl Harbor. 🏝️ deeply thoughtful!
Thanks for everything you do, Ms. Becca! You make every day a "Good Day" for our students! 😊

Today, we highlight the dedication of future educators in Arkansas. 🌟
Meet Jadyn Mooningham, Jordyn Mooningham, and Legion Brownlee, students in our Intro to Education class. Students study the foundations of American education, professional behavior, student needs and diversity, instructional methods, communication strategies, and reflective practices to support learning. They also collaborate with Arkansas teachers through classroom observations and field experience opportunities.
Their commitment today paves the way for a brighter educational future tomorrow. Let's support and encourage these aspiring educators as they embark on this inspiring journey!

Did you know this amazing teacher literally broke her arm on the monkey bars in first grade, the same ones her students play on now?! Now, she's inspiring students to swing into kindness and confidence every single day. Her secret to connecting? Stories! 📖
When she's not making magic in the classroom, you might catch Regina enjoying some Arizona sunshine and outdoor fun with her grandkids during summer break. ☀️🌵
Thank you, Ms. Hamilton, for bringing so much joy and inspiration to our students! You're a true gem! ✨
