Happy Teacher Tuesday! 🎉 Today we’re celebrating Ms. Sarah Loyd!

She loves spending her summers at the lakehouse or out on the boat with family and friends, and she is always down for Mexican food!

Ms. Loyd says what she enjoys most about being a Warhawk is the way everyone comes together to support and encourage one another—whether that’s through a conversation, a kind act, or cheering in the bleachers.

We’re so thankful for the passion, energy, and heart she brings to our students every single day. 💙

Hard work, innovation, and a commitment to excellence are alive and well at MVE! 💪

Junior Cole Harris took his ideas and turned them into reality by designing and building his own cattle trailer for his Ag Mechanics project. He wanted something big enough to haul a good number of cattle but small enough to maneuver through his rental places—and he made it happen through creativity and innovation!

Cole’s custom trailer earned him Grand Champion at the Arkansas State Fair in Ag Mechanics and Grand Champion at the Arkansas Youth Expo (AYE), all while he was also showing his livestock. He learned through trial and error, using examples from other trailers and adjusting along the way. If he built another one, he said he’d make it wider, lighter, and even stronger with upgraded axles.

Through the process, Cole demonstrated integrity, honed problem-solving skills, and showed dedication—lessons that will serve him well into the future and set him up for achievement in whatever comes next.

We’re proud of Cole and all he’s accomplished through the MVE FFA program! He’s a great example of our Warhawk family values in action. 💙

It's Teacher Tuesday, and today we're shining our spotlight on the fantastic Mrs. Alisa Kindsfater! 🌟🍎

Did you know Mrs. Kindsfater writes movie scripts for fun? How cool is that! 🎬 And if she could instantly master any skill, it would be speaking another language to connect with people from all over the world. 🌍

Her favorite food is french fries (who can blame her?! 🍟), and she absolutely loves Spirit Week because it lets her yearbook staff shine and she gets to see all the amazing student costumes! 🎉

Before becoming a teacher, she considered being a journalist or a lawyer, so she's always had a knack for communication and inquiry!

Thank you, Mrs. Kindsfater, for all your creativity, dedication, and for bringing so much spirit to our school! We appreciate you! 😊

🚦 Arkansas Bus Laws for Motorists & Drivers

Stop for flashing red lights
All drivers must stop at least 30 feet away from a school bus that is loading or unloading children with red lights flashing and the stop arm extended. This applies to traffic approaching from both directions on undivided roads.
Stay stopped until the bus turns off its red lights and moves again.

Divided highway exception
If there’s a median or barrier at least 20 feet wide, only the traffic behind the bus must stop.
A center turn lane does not count as a true median — in that case, traffic in both directions must still stop.

Penalties for illegal passing
Fines usually begin around $250 and can go up to $1,000.
Violators might face up to 90 days in jail, community service, or both.
Passing a stopped bus with reckless disregard can be charged as a Class A misdemeanor.

Bus loading & unloading rules
Buses must load and unload on the right side of the road or curb.
Drivers should ensure all students are seated before moving.
Passengers must remain seated while the bus is in motion.

📆 October Reminders for Drivers

Be extra alert in early mornings and late afternoons — changing daylight and fog can reduce visibility.

Watch closely for students near roadways — some may step into the street unexpectedly.

Slow down in school zones and neighborhoods with frequent bus stops.

Avoid any distractions (phones, music, etc.) while driving near buses or schools.

Let’s all do our part — slow down, stop for flashing red lights, and protect our students’ safety. The Warhawk community depends on every driver doing the right thing.

Thinking about a school where your child can truly thrive? At Mt. Vernon-Enola, we’re all about giving students room to grow. With small class sizes, teachers who know their students well, and a community that shows up every step of the way, kids don’t get lost in the crowd — they stand out.

Life at MVE is more than books and tests. From athletics and clubs to hands-on projects and our afterschool program, students explore, discover, and build skills that last far beyond graduation. Plus, with free breakfast and lunch for every Warhawk, we make sure no student starts the day hungry.

Our core values — Integrity, Innovation, Achievement, and Family — guide everything we do. They’re not words on a wall; they’re the heart of how we teach, learn, and support one another.

School choice applications are open now through June 1, 2026. If you’re ready for a place where learning feels personal and students soar higher, we’d love to welcome you to the Warhawk Family.

⛈️ Severe Weather Protocol Reminder 🌪️

The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. In the event of a tornado warning during school hours, both our Elementary and High School campuses have designated storm shelters to keep everyone safe.

Our schools regularly conduct severe weather drills to ensure students and staff are prepared to respond quickly and calmly. These drills help us stay ready and confident should severe weather occur.

Please remember:
• High School Campus: Access through the north parking lot inside the fence. Enter through the north door at the ramp.
• Elementary Campus: Park on the east side of the playground. The gate will be open—enter through the brown door.

During school hours, safe rooms are closed to the public to protect students and staff.
After hours, in the event of an active tornado warning, the safe rooms will be open to the public.

Space inside the shelters is limited. Please bring only essential items, and remember there is a strict no pets rule. We ask that everyone be respectful and considerate of those around them during severe weather events.

We appreciate your trust and support as we work to keep our Warhawk Family safe. Stay weather-aware, and thank you for helping us prioritize safety across our district. 💙
